Jobs Fund application assistance
The Jobs Fund is an important Government initiative that was set up and launched in June 2011 by the National Treasury (administered by the DBSA), in order to provide funding to projects which will result in significant job creation in South Africa. The aim is to create about 150 000 jobs over 3 years with a total budget of R 9bn (R60 000 per job created). The specific focus of this fund amongst other groups is the youth. The funds will mostly be deployed on labour intensive projects with minimal focus being placed on start up companies that were merely set up take advantage of the allocated budget.
There are four main areas of focus for the fund:
I. Enterprise Development
II. Infrastructure Investment
III. Support for Work Seekers
IV. Institutional Capacity Building
The second round for proposals was officially opened on 2 April 2012 - with R1.5 billion having been deployed during the first round.
